Our Mission Statement:
"Nick’s Refrigeration cares about our customer’s comfort and expectations. We strive to exceed both."
Nick Edrington II founded Nick’s Refrigeration Services in 1947 after serving his country in World War II. He had plans to go off to college as his siblings did, but he chose to join the Navy instead. By the time the war ended, he had found himself starting a young family with no clear career path, so he went to work with his father-in-law at the family grocery store. Around the same time, modern refrigeration became more accessible to grocery store businesses. There was a big need to keep meats and produce fresh, so Nick Jr. went to trade school to learn all he could. It wasn’t long before he found other streams of income from modern refrigeration. As a young entrepreneur, he would follow the ice truck as it rolled through town delivering to those who had ice boxes in their homes and businesses to sell them on a new concept, the refrigerator. The average customer could not afford the full price of one, but that did not stop our founder. He had the idea to install lockboxes on the refrigerators that cost a dime to unlock. Once a week or so, he would make his rounds collecting his payment until it was paid off. His main focus was to serve his customers well. In the 40 years Nick worked in his business, his customer base grew mainly because happy customers loved to spread the word.
Nicky III grew up in the industry. He began working at 12 years old in the shop. In high school, he would run service calls after school. While raising his family, he was still running service calls and working nights to ensure his customers were taken care of. He and his sister Phyllis continued to grow the company from the 1980s to the 2000s. Nick’s Refrigeration continually evolved as new technologies came to the market. Nicky III started a new offering for his customers in the form of preventative maintenance. This proactive approach allowed Nick’s Refrigeration to help customers lengthen the life span of their equipment, keeping them cool for generations. Over his 40+ year career, Nicky III received many awards among his peers of Trane dealers in south Louisiana. These awards include distinguished dealer awards, outstanding sales awards, outstanding XL awards, outstanding high-efficiency awards, and many others. Today, Nicky III is a consultant for Nick’s Refrigeration to assist in taking great care of customer needs.
Nick II’s grandson and Nicky III’s son Nick IV also worked in the family business as a kid and in high school but decided to follow his grandfather’s path. Shortly after graduating from E.D. White High School, Nick joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he would be stationed in California. Nick IV was deployed to Kuwait in 2003 as a UAV (drone) mechanic in preparation for what would later be Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was later deployed on a second tour to Iraq in 2004. After completing his five-year enlistment in 2005, Nick and his wife Mary decided to leave California and return to Louisiana. Nick attended trade school and began his career working his way through the different field positions at Nick’s Refrigeration. Nick IV’s wife, Mary, came to work at the family business shortly after. They are the proud parents of three children, twin daughters and a son. Today, Nick IV and Mary lead a great team of knowledgeable, caring team members who are always ready to help our customers stay comfortable.
