Reliable HVAC Services in Houma, LA
Count on our experts for a variety of solutions for your Houma home or business.
Air Conditioning (AC) Installation and Repair
Nick's Refrigeration, Inc., installs, repairs, and replaces central air conditioners for homes and businesses throughout Houma. As a Trane Comfort Specialist, we carry an equipment lineup you won't find at a big-box retailer, and every installation includes a proper cooling load calculation so your new system is sized to your house instead of guessed at.
Houma grew up along Bayou Terrebonne and the Intracoastal Waterway, and a lot of the city's oldest neighborhoods still sit on the natural levees that built up along those banks, the highest and driest ground the original settlers could find. Homes that close to the water deal with a longer, more humid cooling season than most of the country ever sees, which means an AC system here works harder and longer every year than the same unit would somewhere with a real winter.
Furnace Repair and Installation
A gas furnace in south Louisiana doesn't get pushed nearly as hard as one up north, but Nick's Refrigeration, Inc., still handles furnace repair, installation, and inspections for Houma homeowners who want dependable heat on the nights it actually gets cold.
Terrebonne Parish's humid subtropical climate means a furnace here can sit unused for eight or nine months at a stretch, and that long a layoff is exactly when a cracked heat exchanger, a dead igniter, or a clogged filter gets discovered, usually on the first real cold snap of the year rather than before it. A pre-season check catches those problems while there's still time to fix them, instead of finding out on a 40-degree night.
Heat Pump Services
A heat pump gives Houma homeowners efficient heating and cooling from one system, and Nick's Refrigeration, Inc., installs, repairs, and services heat pumps.
You depend on consistent comfort, so whether you need one of our licensed HVAC experts for an upgrade or to diagnose and address an issue, you can count on our team. Give our heat pump professionals a call; we are available 24/7 for emergency services.
HVAC Maintenance Services
Scheduled HVAC maintenance from Nick's Refrigeration, Inc., includes inspections, tune-ups, cleaning, and testing designed to catch small problems before they turn into a breakdown.
Houma sits close enough to the Gulf, by way of the Houma Navigation Canal, that hurricane season is a fact of life every year, and a pre-storm HVAC inspection is worth adding to the same checklist as boarding up windows and filling the truck with gas. A system that's already run down going into a storm is far more likely to fail afterward, right when extended power outages and post-storm humidity make working AC or heat matter the most.
Ductless Mini Split System Installation and Repair
Ductless mini split systems from Nick's Refrigeration, Inc., solve comfort problems that standard ductwork can't reach, with their own compressor and their own thermostat for the space in question.
A lot of Houma's older shotgun-style homes and bayou camps were never built with ductwork in the first place, and running new duct through a house like that usually costs more than it's worth. Running new duct into that kind of space usually means opening up finished walls or a crawl space that was never meant to carry one, so a ductless system skips that step entirely and delivers conditioned air right where it's needed.
Indoor Air Quality Solutions
Indoor air quality equipment addresses the filtration, humidity, and ventilation problems a standard filter can't handle on its own.
Terrebonne Parish's wetlands and waterways keep humidity high for most of the year, and homes here fight a constant, low-grade battle against mold and mildew that a drier climate simply doesn't have to deal with. A properly sized dehumidification or filtration system, matched to the house, takes on that fight instead of leaving an oversized AC to handle it by accident.
Commercial HVAC Services
Reliable commercial HVAC service from Nick's Refrigeration, Inc., covers installation, repair, and maintenance for the offices, retail spaces, and industrial facilities that keep Terrebonne Parish's economy running.
Houma's economy has long run on oil, gas, and the offshore energy industry that uses the Houma Navigation Canal to reach the Gulf, and that means a lot of the parish's commercial HVAC work is for marine supply yards, engineering offices, and industrial facilities running equipment nearly around the clock rather than a standard nine-to-five office building.
Custom Air Duct Installation and Sheet Metal Fabrication
Nick's Refrigeration, Inc., keeps an in-house sheet metal shop for exactly this reason: some jobs need ductwork built to a specific shape and size that no manufacturer sells off the shelf.
Older Houma homes built well before central air was standard were never designed around a duct system, and fitting one in decades later means working around original framing, tight crawl spaces, and rooflines that were never meant to hide a trunk line. Custom-fabricated ductwork solves that fit problem in a way an off-the-shelf duct kit can't.
Why Choose Nick's Refrigeration, Inc.
Nick's Refrigeration, Inc., has served Terrebonne Parish since 1947, when Nick Edrington Jr. came home from the U.S. Navy and started the company from scratch. Three generations of the Edrington family have run the business since, and that kind of continuity is part of why Houma homeowners trust the name. We're a Trane Comfort Specialist and a NATE-certified shop, licensed in Louisiana under #LA5295 and #LA5052918, and we back every job with 24/7 emergency service and a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
